RTV in world of electrical field stands for Room Temperature Vulcanizing. RTV (Room Temperature Vulcanizing) is a type of coating used to improve life of Insulators.

What is RTV Silicone Coating ?

Room temperature vulcanizing (RTV) silicone coating is a type of coating which is usually done on Porcelain insulators. The purpose of RTV silicone coating is to provide highly hydrophobic surface to insulators which limits the current leakage and also due to the insulator contamination it prevents flashovers.
